THE GREATEST SPORTS TEAM ON PLANET EARTH

The accolades continue to be bestowed the world's greatest sports team and the planet's finest footballer.

The Times of London justifiably declares that "3-0 by half-time would not have been harsh and 5-0 at the close would have been a fair reflection of the gulf in class between Barcelona’s team and Real’s mix of big names."

The Independent acknowledges the absolute superiority of the men in red and blue- "not just a dazzling victory for Barcelona, it was also a complete humiliation of their arch rivals."

It gets better too. Soccernet's history buffs points out the spooky coincidence that the team of over-paid, over-rated galacticos were given a "beating" the night before the 30th death anniversary of the tyrant Franco, a defeat so bad that it would have "left the old dictator turning in his grave."

Despite all the media attention afforded to his team after the resounding victory in the capital, Rijkaard has intelligently chosen to play down the hype and focus on the upcoming match against Werder Bremen. After all, an under-achieving Barcelona team is not exactly anything new given the events of recent years. A trashing of Real Madrid will mean nothing if the only trophy to show for at the end of the season is the Primera Liga title. It's time to re-focus their attention on winning the European Cup. Barcelona forever!!!
