JESSE HELMS DEAD

Somehow I do not think that too many people in this country will be grieving over the death of a racist and a bigot who once referred to the University of North Caroline as a "University of Negros and Communists", was a lapdog for Big Tobacco, opposed the creative of MLK Day and blocked Bill Clinton's nomination for Assistant Secretary of HUD only because she was "a damned lesbian", just to name a few.

No doubt conservatives will be playing up the fact that he died on July 4th to, in some way, shape or form, highlight his patriotism and service to America. Redstate.com's tribute to Helms describes him as a "warrior and a patriot". I continue to be amazed by the depth of right-wing hypocrisy.
