GRANNIES AGAINST THE IRAQ WAR

The anti-war movement in the United States has recently recruited some rather unconventional allies in its bid to end the war in the Iraq: GRANNIES!!!

WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO LATELY

It's been a while since I have updated this blog. This is the list of events that have occured in my life since my last entry.

1. Quit my job. Been at the company for 5 years. Moved to a diferent company. Working on the Wrigley account.

2. Fixed the struts and bushings in my car. Cost: $650

3. Went to Miami for 2 days for a conference. Was great to get out there to experience some truly warm weather.

4. Went to Bulls-Wizards game at the United Center where the former managed to churn out a narrow victory. Bulls have since qualifed for the playoffs and at the time of writing, trail the Miami Heat by 2-1 in the first round.

WIERD

The wierdest thing happened to me earlier tonight.

I was about to leave my apartment to meet a bunch of friends for dinner to celebrate my 30th (bloody sad to hit the big Three-O). My car was parked about 30 feet away from my apartment complex and I was walking towards it when a cop approaches me and asks "Are you Shawn?" I was pretty stunned by that question but I did manage to bring the words out of mouth to answer in the affirmative. He pointed towards my car and asks if that belonged me. I told him it did and he wanted to know if I could move it. Apparently, the owner of the car (Lexus SUV) that was parked behind mine could not get out as her vehicle was sandwiched in between mine and the one behind it with little room to manouvere. In an act of desperation, she sought help from the local police department to have someone look up my license plate #.

Anyways, her timing could not be better as I was about to head to the car to drive it to meet my friends. However, I could not help my wonder how the cop just randomly decided to stop me on the street to enquire if I was Shawn Lim, owner of that grey Hyundai Sonata in question. The best possible explanation I can come up with is that he saw my surname "Lim" and figured out it was prob some Asian guy, saw an Asian guy come out of that same apartment complex he was going to, and decided to ask if I was the person he was looking for.

Must say this is a first for me: cop stopping me on the street to ask me if I was the person he/she was looking for.
